Oh yeah!
My husband and I fit together perfectly just like a Reese’s Cup. He loves peanut butter and I’m a chocoholic. Ever since I’ve known him though his favorite type of pie is obviously peanut butter pie. So whenever one is served at a picnic, special occasion, or on sale at the store he always gives us his opinion.
Over the years Frisch’s has had the best peanut butter pie in his opinion. Unfortunately Frisch’s went through a time period where they weren’t making them anymore. Thankfully they are starting to again, but you have to special order them ahead of time.
A few years ago I became a Longaberger Home Consultant, and the branch I was a part of had an awards picnic to celebrate the top sellers, pass out “fun” awards, and just enjoy some quality time together. We all had to contribute to the meal, and I usually bring my Chocolate Chip Cookies so the kids have something to grab and go. Low and behold though one of my basket friends, Maria, brought a peanut butter pie. When Mike heard the news he couldn’t eat his food fast enough to make sure he got a piece of the pie. As you know sometimes at a picnic if there’s something you want, especially dessert wise, then you best get to it first or it could be gone. Sure enough he made it just in time and did his taste test of the peanut butter pie. After the first bite his eyes lite up and I knew it was a winner.
As the picnic went on I knew I was going to have to get the recipe, and I was hoping it wasn’t going to be one of those secret family recipes that I wouldn’t be able to get my hands on. Thankfully it wasn’t, and lucky for me Maria said it was soooooo easy! I’m all for easy since I hate cooking and barely bake unless I’m in the mood.
Here is the recipe in case you’re interested:
Peanut Butter Pie
1 cup powdered sugar
4 oz whipped cream cheese
1 cup peanut butter
2 8 oz Cool Whips
Ready made graham cracker crust (extra serving)
Cream powdered sugar & cream cheese. Add peanut butter & 1 container of Cool Whip (add more peanut butter if desired). Put in pie crust & top with other container of Cool Whip. Refrigerate after serving.
I’m not the only one whose tried to appease my husbands craving for peanut butter pie. His Mom has tried a variety of recipes too, and I have bought a variety from different groceries or bakeries, but now nothing compares to Maria’s recipe. So today, on his birthday, I gave my mother-in-law the recipe so he will have is favorite pie to ope off is birthday dinner.
If you have a peanut butter pie recipe that you don’t mind sharing, please leave it in the comment section. I’ll have the peanut butter pie connoisseur give it a good taste test and I’ll let you know the results.
What type of connoisseur do you or someone you know claim to be?
