Yes I said that right! There’s a way to save all your the kids artwork/school papers with just a hour worth of work, and very little space!
Karli's Artwork Book
I was at my sister-in-law’s (Michelle) house one day and a delivery came. It was a book she had created through Shutterfly with all of my nieces Preschool artwork. Shutterfly is an on-line service that allows you to upload digital pictures for storage or to create scrapbooks or keepsakes. Michelle had collected all of Karli’s artwork, took a picture of them, uploaded the pictures, and created an adorable hard cover & bound picture album. She told me it only took her an hour to create it on Shutterfly! I was very impressed to say the least.
4 artworks on 1 page!
This particular book contains 83 pictures of artwork with a total of 51 pages. From what I remember from doing photo books is the limit is 100 pages and 1,000 pictures. Just think you could probably get many school years incorporated in one book. Talk about a space saver there!
I have used Shutterfly for a variety of things, but I must say this unique idea never crossed my mind. This idea is not only great for time and storage for your child’s artwork, but it can also be a touching gift for any Grandparent. Shutterfly is always running sales and promotions which would allow you to make 2 or more copies of the “Artwork Book” and give them away as gifts for a decent price.
What’s touching at so many levels is Karli will have a volume of artwork books by the time she graduates from high school, and she will be able to display them proudly in her own home in the future. Plus to take that a step further it will make it easier for her to share her artwork, that’s in books, with her kids and hopefully grandkids. We all know kids love books! Wow what a meaningful gift Michelle is creating for her daughter. (As a tear comes to my eye.)

That? Is brilliant. Thanks for sharing the idea!
This was not my idea… a close friend of mine actually thought of it!! But it is awesome and I intend to do it for each year of my girl’s school artwork!!
I did this with my boys artwork. I actually saw it on Oprah and she gave away a free book to everyone in the audience and every viewer that signed in. I obviously took advantage of it and everyone I’ve shown has loved it. I thought it would be hard, but it was very easy!! The boys even like seeing their artwork in a book!!! I recommend it to everyone with kids!!
Great idea.
I love this idea – This way it doesn’t get filed away for know one to appreciate!
Great idea! I’ve been photographing all of the art from my 3 children, and then I toss the majority of the actual pieces – and it’s really hard to toss. No one can find a place to keep all of it. I’ve been meaning to do something with all of the photos. Thx.
I use Heritage Makers to make my artwork books. Check out my blog for more info. The books are WAY better quality, archived for life and there’s no limit on pictures or words because you start from scratch vs use a template. Just a thought…
That’s a brilliant idea! I already scan most of my son’s art to save space. I should make books too.
thanks so very much and your blog is looking great, the information is so useful…and this post hit’s home..going to post a pic of where my kids art work is now…can’t wait to use your idea…
