Mother Nature's Sense of Humor

Even though we’re now living in Indiana we’re still within the Ohio valley which means the unpredictable weather change at any given time.  Yes, I realize the weather can change at anytime anywhere, but you will never truly understand the Ohio valley weather until you live here. No matter what the season we can get the  northern chills or the southern heat blow our way even within a day.  Knowing how to dress for the weather, if your gathering should be an indoor our outdoor one, and the list goes on. 100_0353

Just this past weekend we were off to a picnic and it was 93 degrease and humid as hell.  I made sure to put on a tank top, shorts, and sandals so I could handle the heat.  I also told my boys, whom all want to wear jeans, boots, and white T’s like their Dad, to put on shorts outfits & gym shoes, because it was going to be hot.  I also took their swim trunks, because this picnic is notorous for water gun fights.  Well Mother Nature decided to throw us a curve ball and prove me wrong, and here’s how she did it.

The picnic was 45 minutes away.  When we left the house it was 93 degrease and miserable.  As we drove further and further south the thermometer in the van was showing the slow decline in temperature.  The forecast called for scattered shower for the day, and low and behold not only did the showers come but it brought the front with it with cooler temps on the other side.  Mind you I shouldn’t complain by any means because 73 is definitely more comfortable than 93, but this was another perfect example of Mother Nature’s sense of humor.  I should have looked at the temp drop as a gift, but believe it or not I was cold and proven wrong my Mother Nature that the boys should have worn what they wanted.

I’m not sure what’s happening to Spring and Fall, but it seems anymore that we go from Winter to Summer or Summer to Winter within a week.  Now that could be something that’s happening all over the country for all I know, but it’s definitely happening here.  When, within a weeks time, I’m changing my furnace from cooling air to heat because Monday was 90 and Wednesday was 30 in the month of October last year was insane.

Mother Nature I love you dearly, and we all need a sense of humor, but your humor is a little irritating at times.  All I can ask is that you please at least keep the farmers happy, because they are the ones that depend on you the most.  If you can do that than I can handle your humor anytime, even when it causes me to apologize to my boys and admit Mom was wrong.  :)

When has Mother Nature’s sense of humor gotten to you?
