Verizon Wireless Bill Difference

So Verizon Wireless changed their billing according to what society now values: data allowance.  It went from charging for minutes used with unlimited data usage to charging for data with unlimited minutes & texting.  Here’s how my bill changed for an account with 4 phones:

1400 Minutes w/unlimited data

  • Over all plan charge: $70
  • Basic phone: $9.99
  • Basic phone: $9.99
  • Smartphone: $49.98
    • 9.99 for line charge
    • 29.99 for unlimited data pkg
    • $10 for 500 texts messages
  • Smartphone: $39.98
    • 9.99 for line charge
    • 29.99 for unlimited data pkg
  • Total bill: $179.94 + taxes & fees

4G Data w/unlimited minutes, texting, & hotspots

  • Overall plan charge: $70
  • Basic phone $30/mo
  • Basic phone $30/mo.
  • Smartphone  $40/mo.
  • Smartphone $40/mo.
  • Total bill: $210 + taxes & fees

Now it looks like keeping our old plan was a better deal, but we wanted our Smartphones to be hotspots to save money on internet connections in our homes.  We share our plan with My Farmer’s parents, hence the “saving money on internet in our homes.”  So if we would have added the hotspots to two Smartphones the cost per month with old minute plan would have been: $239.92 plus taxes & fees.

Now we can have internet no matter where we go, which is nice when you have other devices that function on Wifi connections.

What’s your plan cost & who is your carrier?

I get my cell and cable/internet through Verizon. It’s by far my biggest monthly expense, next to rent!
